Decolonizing STEM

Welcome to http://decolonize-stem.sites.pomona.edu

This website was created to help decolonize the established, historically Euro-centric narrative of STEM in our education systems. On the different pages there is information about the advancements and discoveries made, beliefs practiced, and the relationships had with the natural world that different non-European groups have had throughout history related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The intention behind this is to help to widen the scope of what has historically been considered a scientist, mathematician, and innovator in order to demonstrate that science and innovation is a universal part of the human experience. The site hopes to provide the information left out of educational curriculums that show that each and every person belongs in the scientific community and that history belongs to no singular group of people.

All pages are adapted from the presentations given by students from the Pomona college Physics, Astronomy, and Biology departments.
